The beginning of plastic tiles in China began in the late 1980s. At that time, the main raw materials were PVC and red clay or diatomaceous earth with good aging resistance. Other renaming and processing aids were added and extruded or molded. The tile shaped structure is monotonous and the size is small. Due to insufficient consideration of the long-term aging resistance of plastics at the initial stage, many products have lost their color after years of exposure to the wind and the sun, and their performance has declined to varying degrees, bringing various inconvenience and concerns to users. There are also a very small number of products that have been tested for nearly 30 years and are still in good service. Three years ago, when I visited a simple greenhouse at Hangzhou Academy of Agricultural Sciences, I saw plastic tiles from the late 1980s. Apart from their almost grayish white color, their other mechanical properties still meet the requirements of working conditions.

I have been deeply involved in the plastic industry for over 20 years. Since the early 1990s, I have been thinking about how to improve and enhance the various properties of plastic tiles. I have made many attempts in product manufacturing, long-term performance evaluation, construction standards and recycling, environmental friendliness, and have become a leader and active participant in the industry. Various types of plastic tiles are also increasingly appearing in people's sight.

Compared with traditional asbestos tiles/cement tiles, plastic tiles are lighter in weight, easier to construct, and have a variety of beautiful colors to choose from.

Compared with color steel tiles, it has better strength and deformation resistance, superior corrosion resistance, and excellent thermal and sound insulation performance.

The plastic tile equipment can produce various types of plastic tiles, including industrial wave tiles, civil synthetic resin tiles, hollow tiles, lighting tiles, etc. The raw materials involve PVC/ASA, PP/PE/PS, PC, PET, FRP, etc., with applications in various fields including chemical engineering, pharmaceuticals, ceramics, smelting, fertilizers, pesticides, animal husbandry, homestays, villas, new rural construction, urban leveling and slope conversion, and many others.

The direction of future plastic tiles should be focused on building diversity, functionality, and composites. As a component on the roof of a building, roof tiles provide different aesthetic experiences on the ground and in the sky. There will be more and more personalized designs here, as well as a challenge of visual harmony with the surrounding buildings and supporting structures. For thousands of years, the comprehensive requirements for decorative, thermal insulation, and sound insulation of various types of tiles have never stopped. Due to the performance differences between plastic tiles and traditional ceramic tiles, cement tiles, or color steel tiles, different solutions and technical challenges are inevitably encountered when considering their decorative, thermal insulation, and sound insulation properties.
